Las Vegas Woman Arrested for DUI Drugs

Las Vegas woman arrested for DUI Drugs, after allegedly losing control of her vehicle, which resulted in hitting two pedestrians on the sidewalk.  The two victims were transported to University Medical Center with what has been described as “serious injuries”.  Analisa Gardea, a 24 year old Las Vegas resident has been accused of driving a Lincoln Navigator around 3:30pm when she lost control, hit the pedestrians and knocked out a light pole. Although the crash is still under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Accident Investigation Detail, Gardea was immediately taken into custody, on suspicion of DUI Drugs with Substantial Bodily Harm.

Typically, in Las Vegas, a first or second time DUI Drugs arrest is charged as a misdemeanor, unless someone is seriously injured, then the charge is upgraded to a felony.  Although at this time the extent of the pedestrians’ injuries are not known, one could assume that a trip to UMC is a fair indicator that the injuries are substantial and possible life threatening.  Therefore, Gardea will likely be charged with at least 2 Felony counts of DUI Drugs with Substantial Bodily Harm.  Each charge carries a 2-20 year mandatory prison sentence, meaning if convicted, the suspect cannot be granted probation by a Clark County Judge, and would be sent to prison.
