A 34 year old Texas woman, posed as a teenager and enrolled as a sophomore at a private high school in East Texas. Charity Johnson was arrested on Tuesday after lying to Longview Police stating she was “Charite Stevens”, and was born in November 1997. Longview police were called to an apartment where the women was staying, she was reported by the tenant and police were informed she was no longer welcome at the residence. Police gave Johnson a trespass warning, but it was later determined that she gave police a false name and birthdate.
Johnson, is currently being held in Gregg County Jail on a $500 bond for allegedly giving false information to police. Johnsons enrolled at the New Life Christian School in Longview on October with a “guardian” who filled out the paperwork which stated she was 15 years old. The principal Stuart Newlin stated, “she acted like a 15, 16-year-old. She was an attentive student, respectful, did her homework.” According to Newlin, everyone at the school was convinced she was a teen.
Apparently, Ms. Johnson made an attempt at a real life “21 Jump Street”, by enrolling in a high school and living the life of a teenage student. It is not known, what her motive behind these actions were, and how long she intended to keep up the fraud. But, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if the defendant has a history of mental health issues.
